Information for homeowners:
It may be of interest to some of you, who are either refinancing your home or considering it, that the lending institutions are requesting you complete a Treasury Department form 4506-T. Perhaps you have seen some of the articles recently written about this form and the problems arising from its use and abuse. There was an article warning about it in the Los Angeles Times about two months ago.
The form provides access to your federal tax returns and has become a great source of identity theft. When entered into a computer system, as it always is, too much information is made available to too many people. Furthermore, once in the system, the form can be altered to provide even more information than originally requested or intended. In addition, once in a computer system, access is unlimited as to those who can gain access, legally or otherwise, to the system.
Please be advised as to the danger of the form and avoid it!
